Bitcoin falls 6%, Ethereum down 11%, crypto market cap under $1 trillion

The global market cap for crypto has fallen below $1 trillion with major cryptocurrencies as Bitcoin, EthereumBinance and others trading in the red.

The most popular coin today was Ethereum (ETH), and the biggest gainer was Huobi Token (HT).
The global crypto market cap was down about 6 percent to $973.08 billion at 8:40 a.m. However, global crypto volume increased by 46.84 percent to $94.04 billion, according to Coinmarketcap data.

Trading volume in the decentralized financial coin section is around $6.56 billion, or 6.98 percent of the total 24-hour volume of the crypto market. The volume of all stablecoins is $84.6 billion, or about 89.96 percent of the total crypto market volume in the last 24 hours.

The biggest gainer of the day was Huobi Token (HT), which was up 7.34 percent to $5.13. The biggest loser was Lido DAO (LDO), which fell 13.41 percent to $1.73.

Cryptocurrency prices

Bitcoin

Bitcoin fell 6.26 percent to $20,242.72.

BTC’s price came under pressure sometime after 9.34 on August 26 and traded at a loss all day. But around 18:08 an unsuccessful attempt was made to lift the price of BTC and for a brief moment the price was in the green zone. But at 20.02 the price was back in the red zone and fell much further than before.

The lowest price for BTC today was $20,183.29 and the trading volume increased by 40.02 percent to $43,203,797,956.

Ethereum

The price of Ethereum this morning was $1,502.22, which is a loss of 10.99 percent in the last 24 hours.

Like BTC, ETH also came under heavy selling pressure sometime around 9.39 on August 26, and the price never recovered. Despite significant buying activity after 19.14, it was not sustainable and therefore the price of ETH rose, albeit temporarily, for about 30 minutes. It finally came down below the $1500 levels.

The lowest price for ETH today was $1,490.66. ETH’s trading volume increased by 82.82 percent to $27,463,486,533.

Other Altcoins

Solana’s (SOL) price fell 9.31 percent to $31.84 today.

Ripple (XRP) lost 3.79 percent to $0.334 and 24-hour trading volume was up 103.47 percent to $1,848,893,812.

Cardano (ADA) fell 7.34 percent to $0.4327. The 24-hour trading volume for ADA increased by 157.84 percent to $1,360,178,633.

Binance (BNB) fell 6.6 percent to $279.83. Its 24-hour trading volume increased by 23.39 percent to $1,222,462,695.

Meme Coins

Dogecoin (DOGE) fell 7.7 percent to $0.06381. Its 24-hour trading volume increased by 32.73 percent to $631,450,661.

Shiba Inu (SHIB) was down 9.3 percent to $0.00001255.

Decentralized Finance (DeFi)

Yearn.Finance (YFI) fell 6.86 percent to $9,058.00. Its 24-hour trading volume was down 1.14 percent at $72,969,675.

Avalanche (AVAX) fell 10.69 percent to $20.57 and 24-hour trading volume was down 76.27 percent to $554,199,446.

Aave (AAVE) traded down 10.09 percent to $82.04, and 24-hour trading volume was up 16.88 percent to $239,287,155.
