Betway supports operators with fintech POS | The Guardian Nigeria News

Nigeria’s premier online and gaming brand, Betway, has supported 10 Fintech Points Of Sale (POS) operators in Lagos State with solar powered kiosks to help their businesses.

The presentation, which was held in Lagos, according to the sports betting firm, would enable beneficiaries to carry out their transactions with ease and provide an enhanced customer experience.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Operations Officer of Betway in Nigeria, Otunba Kunle Olamuyiwa, said the gesture was part of the company’s commitment to support small businesses and entrepreneurs in Nigeria, adding that the kiosks are weatherproof and can withstand harsh environmental conditions, which making them suitable for use anywhere.

He said, “We understand the pain these POS operators are going through on a daily basis due to the power situation in the country and their meager business capital which makes it difficult to procure a power generation kit for most of them. The solar powered kiosks are equipped with solar panel and inverter to ensure that the Fintech POS operators have access to a reliable and efficient power supply.

“We are committed to supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs in Nigeria. Our focus is to empower these businesses to thrive and contribute to the growth of the economy.

The solar-powered kiosks will help these Fintech POS operators operate more efficiently and serve their customers better.”

Otunba Olamuyiwa further said that many of the POS operators do not have good kiosks or shops to run their businesses, with many of them operating under umbrellas and at the mercy of the weather.

Excited, the recipients expressed their gratitude to Betway for their support, noting that the kiosks would improve their business and enable them to provide better services to their customers.

They also commended the betting company for its commitment to supporting small businesses in Nigeria.

Larry, one of the recipients and a qualified polytechnic graduate, who entered the POS business because he could not secure a job when he graduated from the tertiary institution, said: “I am still in shock and I have not yet fully realized the fact that I now have a state of the art kiosk to do my business I saw the video asking any POS operator in Lagos who is in need of one to indicate it on Betway’s Twitter handle and I took immediately took the leap of faith and asked my friends to support me so that I could be elected. I am truly grateful to Betway for this support.”

Dotun Adepegba, Head of Marketing for Betway in Nigeria, said the initiative is in line with Betway’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts to support the development of small businesses in Nigeria.

According to him, the company is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of people in the communities where they operate.

“We did not stop at giving the beneficiaries kiosks to improve their businesses, we also made sure they went through a short financial training program that will allow them to run their businesses profitably,” he said.
