AVENGED SEVENFOLD launches Ticketpass, a blockchain-based verification and rewards system

In connection with AVENGERED SEVENTHtheir upcoming tour, the band has launched Ticket pass, a blockchain-based verification and reward system for anyone who chooses to participate. It’s free, environmentally friendly and requires very few steps to ensure you can buy the tickets you want.

Says AVENGERED SEVENTH: “We will split these passes into ‘tiers’ over time and reward people who have participated in merchandise, listening habits, music consumption, live events and other metrics. For example, if over the course of a year you’ve bought a t-shirt, vinyl and been to 4 shows… we will be able to upgrade your ‘Ticket pass‘ and allows you to buy tickets earlier than others who haven’t. Many new items will have NFC tags that allow us to verify ownership, stick with us! The idea is that actual fans get tickets first and not dealers who want to make money off you. An easy way to look at it is through the lens of ‘Airline Rewards’ systems. If you fly a lot with our airline, we think that you should first have a shot at pit tickets. Another advantage of all this is that we have confirmed from Ticketmaster that none of these tickets are subject to dynamic prices or price changes on day 1.

“This is an early beta that we’re starting to test with our upcoming second leg of tour dates to be announced on Tuesday, and things may change as we see how this plays out. If people take advantage”Ticket pass‘ we can turn off their token on our end. If we see that this is not working for the fans, we can also choose to close it. We build publicly so we can get feedback from you. If you decide that this is all too confusing and you’d rather buy tickets on day 2 with am email and password, that’s fine too.

“For people who are familiar with using Metamask and CoinbaseWallet, we need you to help people who are new to this whenever you can. When we started this over a year ago, many of you needed help and others were happy to provide it. Let’s make this a good experience. If you’re new to this and need any extra help at all, feel free to join Disagreement and ask in the #ticket-pass channel.
