Avenged Sevenfold Beta Tests New Blockchain-Based Ticketing System For Their Next US Tour
LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – As Avenged Sevenfold ramped up the second leg of their Life is But A Dream North American tour, the band announced the launch of TicketPass, a new blockchain-based ticketing platform that they hope will help get tickets into the hands of fans instead of scalpers.
The platform will reward Avenged Sevenfold fans who have attended their shows in the past, or purchased merchandise, giving them a chance to get tickets before others.
“An easy way to look at it is through the lens of ‘Airline Rewards’ systems. If you fly a lot with our airline, we think you should have a shot at pit tickets first. Another benefit of all this is that we have confirmed from Ticketmaster that none of these tickets are subject to dynamic pricing or Day 1 price changes, Avenged Sevenfold said in a statement announcing the new system.
According to the band, the platform and concept are still in the beta testing phase, and if they find people exploiting Ticketpass, the token that makes the system work for them could be shut out. They also showed the possibility that the system itself could be sidelined if the beta test runs into problems.
“If we see that this is not working for the fans, we can also choose to close it. We are building publicly so that we can get feedback from you,” said a statement from Avenged Sevenfold.
“TicketPass won’t cost anyone any money, you don’t have to get involved in cryptocurrency, you don’t have to do any of these things that people feel uncomfortable with, and the token that we’re going to use is on the Polygon network – an environmentally friendly blockchain .We want to roll something out to the rest of our fan base without them having to choose a full fan club experience that is strictly for tickets and make sure our fans get the best tickets they want first,” frontman M. Shadows added.
“At the end of the day, we want to know your feedback on whether this worked well for you, and we’ll take notes and shape this for you. Think of it as a ‘frequent flier miles’ program – with Avenged Sevenfold, we’ll share these fit into ‘tiers’ over time and reward the people who have participated the most in our A7X ecosystem (with merchandise, listening habits, music consumption, live events and other metrics.),” continued M. Shadows.
Avenged Sevenfold will begin the second leg of their North American run on September 16th at the iTHINK Financial Amphitheater and conclude at Dickie’s Arena in Forth Worth, TX on October 15th.
