The first Hungarian manual therapy solution on Blockchain is here
Thanks to unlimited access to the Internet, the domestic SME sector is also starting to discover blockchain-based solutions, which provide an immediate way to prove whose intellectual property a process is. A good example is the blockchain-based therapeutic concept of the Movement Clinic (Mozgásklinika), the Movement Pyramid (Mozgáspiramis), which may even become a patent in the near future, the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office tells the Budapest Business Journal.
Internet-based technological development is not slowing down, but is becoming increasingly dynamic. Blockchain-based solutions are being adopted by multinational companies, regardless of industry. There are already a number of car manufacturers that track the service intervals of each vehicle on a blockchain, but in addition to industrial users, the solution has also appeared in the health sector, mobile communications and art.
The question is: how will this international trend affect patenting worldwide, will it multiply patenting or will it drive patent organizations to technological innovation? The fact is that there are three main sectors when it comes to innovation: the military, the automotive industry and the health industry, ie the global population is spending more and more on its own defense, mobility and health.
As for patents in the health sector, the number has increased significantly in recent years in Hungary. Based on 2022 data (national and European patents in force), Hungary has around 35,000 valid patents. In the area of patents, the pharmaceutical industry has for years been the largest source of patent applications to the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office, with around 12,000 patents related to the pharmaceutical industry.
Movement Clinic is an innovative healthcare player in Hungary that has recognized the potential for innovation, business and knowledge sharing in physiotherapy. Rita Szentiványi, a physiotherapist and manual therapist, created the Movement Pyramid based on more than two decades of practical experience.
The expert explained that “Sometimes it is a technological discovery that triggers innovation, and sometimes it is accumulated experience. The movement pyramid itself is like the famous Maslow pyramid, but it summarizes the laws and mechanisms of action for the treatment and rehabilitation of movement disorders. specifically for the human body.” A therapeutic concept based on experience, the effectiveness of which is beyond doubt!”
The movement pyramid concept was the first to be uploaded on a blockchain, which means it is the first verifiable Hungarian manual therapy new intellectual product in the virtual space. The goal, of course, is to get the Movement Pyramid protected by the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office, but that will be the result of a longer process, according to Gyula Pomázi, the president of the office.
“Not only do we nurture and protect new Hungarian intellectual products, but we ourselves are open to the systemic introduction of innovative technologies. One of the great challenges of the future is how to integrate blockchain solutions into national and international IP protection. We intend to become proactive actors in this regard, and we already have innovative solutions, including blockchain-based solutions, that are widely available,” he noted.
