Decentraland experienced a sharp drop in value
Despite the growth in NFT mintage and trading volume, an assessment of the three NFT collections that make up Decentraland showed a significant decline in value in 2022.
This decline in value reflected the general market sentiment towards the asset class as many abandoned speculative projects to escape the economic difficulties that persisted throughout the year. 2022 was challenging, as several NFT projects took a big hit to their value.
For context, blue chip NFTs saw a drop in value when the Blue Chip Index fell 45% in 2022. According to NFTGothe Blue Chip Index is calculated by weighting the market capitalization (ETH/USD) of blue chip pools to reflect their performance.
