Helps creators build a business now – and for the meta-verse
Today we are expanding the ways Creators can make money on Facebook and Instagram, and share updates on new technologies that will help creators as we build for the metaverse.
We are also extending our obligation not to charge fees for subscriptions, stamps, paid online events and bulletins with an additional year, which lasts until January 1, 2024.
Expands Facebook stars
Facebook Stars – a digital item that fans can buy and send to support creators – is now open to all qualified creators on Facebook Live, on-demand videos and will soon be available on Facebook Reels.
Now any creator who meets the following qualification criteria can start receiving stars from their fans:
- At least 1000 followers in the last 60 days
- In one of these markets: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, USA
- Compliance with Partner’s revenue generation guidelines and Content Generation Guidelines for Content
In addition to Facebook Live and on-demand video, we are expanding our Stars on Reels test and will invite hundreds of thousands of creators to use Stars on Reels in the coming months.
We’ve also launched new mobile tools for creators who can join Stars, check their Stars revenue by content type, manage their goals and more.
More ways to make money with Facebook wheels
Last year we announced ours Facebook Reels Play bonus program, which gives creators the opportunity to make money on Facebook by creating and sharing qualified public wheels. To date, this has only been available to select creators on an invitation basis. Soon we will open an application process for US-based creators who meet these criteria:
We also test ways creators can make money on both Instagram and Facebook with cross-posted wheels.
Creators will soon be able to use the “Paid Partnerships with” label for branded content on Facebook Reels and let sponsors easily convert them into Branded Content ads.
Helps brands and creators collaborate on brand content
We will soon start testing the Creator Marketplace on Instagram, where brands and creators can more easily build brand content partnerships.
Creators will be able to specify the brands and topics they are interested in creating brand content for, discover opportunities to collaborate with approved brands and manage their brand agreements without having to leave the app. We will also start testing payments in apps, so that brands can pay for brand content creators directly via Instagram when a project is complete.
Brands will also be able to discover and collaborate with Instagram creators through the Meta Business Suite by using demographic and interest filters for both a creator and their audience. Once they have found a creator they want to collaborate with, they will be able to submit a project that outlines the details of the opportunity, including deliveries and payment offered.
Build relationships with fans across platforms
We know that many creators have built a fanbase across a variety of web platforms. With that in mind, we announce our first investment in interoperable revenue generation tools for creators: Interoperable Subscriber Groups. This allows creators to receive payments from their fans on other platforms, and automatically add them to their Facebook-only subscribers.
This will save creators valuable time by not having to manually add individual members to their Facebook groups and help them retain their most loyal fans. We are launching an initial test this month with selected partners, with plans to expand to more in the coming months.
Digital collectibles available for multiple creators, in multiple locations
When we build for the meta-verse, investing in web3 technologies and digital collectibles such as NFT is a crucial part of our long-term commitment to creators. We already see creators like @misshattan, @nylacollection_nft, @amber_vittoria and @bossbeautiesnft find success by sharing their NFTs with their communities on Instagram.
We are expanding our test of digital collectibles on Instagram to more creators and a handful of more countries. Creators and collectors will be able to share their digital collectibles on Facebook and Instagram after we start rolling out the feature on Facebook with selected US creators at a later date. We will also soon start testing NFTs in Instagram Stories with SparkAR.
We have also made a guide about how NFTs work and why they are essential for the metaverse.
There will be no fees associated with posting or sharing a digital collectible on Instagram, and for now, we will not offer the ability to turn digital collectibles into ads.
We know that NFT raises important sustainability issues. As part of Meta’s commitment to sustainabilitywe help reduce the emission impact that can be associated with digital collectibles by purchasing renewable energy.
