Visa Accelerator Program 2023 enables SL fintech startups to go global – The Island

Visa, a global leader in digital payments, has announced the Visa Accelerator Program 2023 which provides fintech startups with the opportunity to increase their growth potential through Visa’s extensive network, partnerships and expertise.

Since 2020, the Visa Accelerator Program has enabled innovative startups from across Asia Pacific to work with Visa and unlock growth and scale. For the 2023 cohort, it seeks applications from start-ups with a proven solution, growth-stage companies and an Asia-Pacific focus, addressing one of the areas of opportunity in – Web 3.0, global money movement, embedded finance, merchants and small businesses and openers. banking solutions.

Avanthi Colombage, Country Manager, Sri Lanka and Maldives, Visa said: “We are delighted to invite applications for the third batch of the Visa Accelerator program from innovative startups across the country. We have seen some exceptional ideas from the region in previous cohorts, and hopes to have startups from Sri Lanka as part of this initiative as well.The program will help selected startups to work with Visa and its network and take enhanced product propositions to markets not only in but outside of Sri Lanka.

What are these startups

The six-month program is designed for companies in the growth stage that want to expand their market reach, with a focus on product solutions, technical integration and rapid commercialization. With the Visa Accelerator program, startups can work with Visa’s payment experts, product architects and business development teams. They can rapidly co-develop, test and iterate new solutions while pursuing concrete go-to-market opportunities, leveraging Visa’s extensive network of financial institutions, merchants and digital partners.

Application process

Startups can read about the program and apply here, on or before 10 January 2023. The program will last six months, culminating in a Demo Day where startups present their solutions to Visa’s partners and customers from across Asia Pacific.

Visa Accelerator Program 2022

Among the 5 participants in the previous cohort – Visa Accelerator Program 2022 – from across the Asia-Pacific region was Perfios of India, a fintech start-up offering automated credit assessment and underwriting solution for small business loans that allows plug and play card programs for immediate disbursal of funding on Visa credentials, and TallyKhata from Bangladesh enabling small business financing by leveraging TallyKhata’s trading platform and data and Visa credentials for supplier payments and business expenses.

With a goal of enabling the safe and secure movement of money across the globe, Visa seeks to consistently build positive payment experiences in Sri Lanka, ensuring speed and convenience while reducing payment friction. Startups that can contribute to such a goal will find the program beneficial and can access the breadth of Visa’s network, global mentors, dedicated Visa sponsorship and products, access to technical know-how, business development opportunities and funding.
