The blockchain hackathon ‘Building Future Cities’ is being held in Bengaluru
A two-day blockchain hackathon, ‘Building Future Cities’, will be held here from 5 August.
The hackathon is organized by the Crypto investment app CoinSwitch, in collaboration with ‘Startup Karnataka’, a Karnataka government initiative, and Tejasvi Surya, Member of Parliament (Bangaluru South).
It is also supported by Sequoia India.
The hackathon will challenge participants to envision a blockchain-driven India, focusing on smart mobility, energy credits and trade, decentralized waste management, secure digital identity and certificate management, efficient and transparent vaccine distribution, among other things, the organizers said in a statement Thursday.
The winners will be rewarded with a prize of Rs three lakh, with the total prize pool for the hackathon set at Rs six lakh. Participants can participate in the competition individually or in a team of up to four members, it was said.
“Karnataka is the torchbearer of Digital India. The state has an excellent track record of working closely with the government and entrepreneurs. This hackathon allows Karnataka to carry this success story to the next frontier of technology – blockchain – and allows young innovators to use the power to blockchain for the public good, “said Karnataka IT Minister Ashwath Narayan CN.
