Kevin Smith’s NFT movie released

NFTs or “non-fungible tokens” have become a thought-provoking topic, but many celebrities have NFT-related projects underway. Earlier this year, it was reported that director Kevin Smith was planning to sell his upcoming horror anthology film, KillRoy was here, as an NFT. Smith teamed up with Secret Networks Legendao to launch NFTs of the film, which will mark the first in history released in this format. Yesterday, Smith took to Instagram to announce the release of the film.

“KillRoy is HERE! The legends on @scrtnetwork make history today with the release of my 14th film, called KILLROY WAS HERE! Produced by @semkhorstudios and made with the students at @ringlingcollege down in #sarasota, this horror cantology has @jaymewes, @chrisjerichofozzy , @harleyquinnsmith and more in twisted stories about a local legend who murders everyone who has hurt a child! @robertkurtzmanmufx created KillRoy as well as all the bloody gags (like the fake magazine in Harley’s face) in my tribute to #creepshow and #talesfromthedarkside which I filmed before and after my heart attack! KillRoy makes a little story today as the first film marked as an NFT! Join the mint party with me and @jaymewes on @twitter Spaces at 9.00 / NoonEST and get your KillRoy at the link in my bio! ” wrote Smith. You can check out some photos from KillRoy was here under:

Smith directed the script written by him and Andy McElfresh, and it is described as a “throwback anthology horror film with a creature that kills evil adults at the behest of sacrificed children.” The film, along with exclusive content, behind-the-scenes footage and a commentary track, will be launched as a 5555-piece generative NFT art collection on Secret Network’s primary NFT embossing platform, Legendao, which will partner with Semkhor and Curio, the premier NFT platform for entertainment brands .

“When you buy KillRoy NFT, you get exclusive access to the movie. But more importantly, the specific version of KillRoy you get is YOURS KillRoy to do with what you want: Make your own movie, turn it into a cartoon, license him for lunch boxes! ” Smith explained. «We started the story, now YOU get to continue it with your very own version of our titular character! And along with a whole new chapter I will be filming next year, the short films and the animation that KillRoy NFT owners make with their own KillRoy‘s will form the bulk of our follow-up anthology. The KillRoy NFT offers an exciting and unique opportunity to go from art collector to collaborating artist! “

KillRoy was here is not Smith’s only new film. This month, the director also debuted the long-awaited trailer for Forwarders III. Forwarders III coming to selected cinemas on 13 and 15 September.
