Monetary Authority Singapore (MAS) Chief FinTech Officer Sopnendu Mohanty has recently been honored by the Global Academy of Finance and Management (GAFM) by awarding the first certification – ‘Master FinTech and Regulatory Innovation Professional’ for his tireless initiatives in the Fintech and Fintech Regulatory innovation spheres.
He is an avid speaker, global thought leader in FinTech, and advocate for accelerated transformation to a digital economy to address financial inclusion and sustainability challenges. He has co-authored several patented works in the application of digital technology in finance and won many industry recognitions.
Monetary Authority Singapore (MAS) Chief FinTech Officer Sopnendu Mohanty has recently been honored by the Global Academy of Finance and Management (GAFM) by awarding the first certification – ‘Master FinTech and Regulatory Innovation Professional’ for his tireless initiatives in the Fintech and Fintech Regulatory innovation spheres.
Sopnendu Mohanty received the certification from the GAFM representative in Sri Lanka and Maldives, Fintech Association of Sri Lanka (FASL) founder and Asian FinTech Academy (AFTA) founder and CEO Rajkumar Kanagasingam during the Singapore FinTech Festival at the Singapore Expo.
Mohanty joined MAS in August 2015 with responsibility for creating development strategies, public infrastructure and regulatory guidelines around technology innovation.
Within a few years of his leadership, Singapore has become one of the top global fintech hubs covering a wide range of financial asset classes, including adjacent technology innovations in areas such as insurance, digital assets, blockchain, artificial intelligence, reg-tech and green- finance.
Prior to joining MAS, he spent over 20 years in various leadership roles in technology, finance and innovation with most of his career at Citigroup.
In addition, Mohanty is a member of several advisory committees for multilateral global agencies, associations, universities and governments advising on Fintech, Innovation and Inclusion.
Mohanty is heavily involved with global technology and financial services ecosystems and has championed notable commons such as API Exchange (APIX), Singapore FinTech Festival (SFF), Payment Rails, data exchange platforms and experimental programs such as UBIN.
He is the chairman of Elevandi which was established by MAS as an independent legal entity in 2021 to promote an active and open dialogue between the public and private sectors, to advance FinTech further in the global digital economy.
Under Mohanty’s leadership, Elevandi is now rapidly evolving into a world-class knowledge platform with fresh insights gleaned from initiatives that connect people, in addition to flagship SFF programs such as the Green Shoot Series, Point Zero Forum, Elevandi Insights Forum and more.
He is an avid speaker, global thought leader in FinTech, and advocate for accelerated transformation to a digital economy to address financial inclusion and sustainability challenges.
