Prof. Mounir Ghogho on CoinGeek Backstage: Blockchain is a way to cure societal disorders
The global IEEE 5G-IoT Blockchain Summit was held in Morocco and brought together leaders from the blockchain and technology ecosystem to discuss the future of emerging technology, from IPv6 and blockchain to 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT). CoinGeek Backstage caught up with Prof. Mounir Ghogho, one of the people behind the event, who believes that blockchain is a way to cure many of today’s social disorders.
“It’s a huge pleasure to host this high – level blockchain event here at the International University of Rabat in Morocco. We had a unique selection of speakers, one of whom was Dr. Craig Wright, the inventor of Bitcoin,” Ghogho told CoinGeek Backstage. host Becky Liggero.
As CoinGeek reported, Dr. Wright gave a keynote speech on integrating Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and blockchain. Satoshi noted that IPv6 was part of the original Bitcoin protocol, revealing that he included it to enable seamless direct communication between Bitcoin users “without all the problems you have on the current IPv4 network. And IP to IP is critical because that’s how you have peer to peer. “
“There is a lot of interaction between the students and the speakers, and paths have been identified for collaboration, especially with BSV. We look forward to working together on projects with great societal impact,” Ghogho added, repeating Hakan Yuksel’s comments during the event. Speaking to CoinGeek, Hakan, the head of nChain, noted that he was pleasantly surprised at how knowledgeable the students were, and many of their questions were insightful and challenging.
An IEEE Fellow, Prof. Ghogho, is dean of Doctoral College and director of the TIC Lab (an ICT research laboratory) at the University of Rabat.
Because of why he had invited the BSV contingent to the event, Ghogho noted that blockchain is one of the university’s main research topics, and “we are looking for the major players in blockchain, and we found BSV one of them.”
Ghogho, who specializes in electronic and electrical engineering, told CoinGeek Backstage that students at the University of Rabat are very interested in blockchain technology.
“They are very excited about this new technology, and some of them are learning about cybersecurity and blockchain as a distributed system,” he noted.
Referring to Dr. Wright’s speech, he observed that he wants students to see blockchain as more than just a means of speculation, but a way to make micropayments and cure societal disorders.
