Since digital artist Beeple sold the NFT associated with his play “Everydays: The First 5000 Days” for a record $69.3 million, NFT’s popularity and authority have skyrocketed. This NFT sale at the elite auction house Christies gave concrete authority that the medium of an NFT would be acceptable to The Arts in capitals.

Decetreland (MANA) and The Sandbox (SAND) are NFT marketplace platforms buzzing with NFT trading, creation and collection. Decentraland has inspired the next generation of metaverse creators with its 2022 Metaverse Art Week, which saw exhibitions of digital art, including AI-generated art, displayed in their Metaverse. The Sandbox has also created a community of committed creatives who celebrate who celebrated and displayed their artwork in the MoCDA exhibition during the summer.

Big Eyes Coin (BIG) is a new cryptocurrency that promises to release a collection of NFTs that will reach the top ten. Big Eyes already has an enchanting presence in the pre-sale, with enough hype to raise $8.5 million, which will likely translate into an NFT collection that will prove hugely inspiring and collectible. This editorial will look at Decentraland, The Sandbox and Big Eye’s ability to engage future generations of artists.

Decentraland hosted the 2022 Metaverse Art Week exhibition

Decentraland is a platform on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain that hosts a virtual reality ecosystem where users can buy land; metaverse property in the form of an NFT. The user can then share their own in-game creations with others, trade, play games and earn money from their creations.

From August 18 to 24, 2022, Decentraland hosted an exhibition for Metaverse Art Week titled “The World is Made of Code.” This was a very exciting time for many of the Decentraland community, who were there to see, hear and experience the art and performance in virtual reality. These inspiring digital creations included; immersive art installations, NFT exhibitions, panel discussions and productions.

Hosted by Decentraland in Soho Plaza, Metaverse Art Week featured a gravity-defying sculpture garden alongside a community-designed art gallery. This is a great example of how easy and accessible and malleable virtual reality is on the Decentraland platform – inspiring doesn’t even cover it!

The Sandbox collaborated with The Museum of Contemporary Digital Art

Sandbox is similar to Decentraland in that it is a platform designed to host user-generated content (UGC) and virtual gaming experiences. However, it is more aimed at disrupting existing games like Minecraft by giving users complete ownership of their content.

Sandbox inspires future generations of artists by simply giving them the space and platform to profit from their own digital creations. This is a very important departure from centralized games like Minecraft, which do not grant any ownership or rights to their players.

Finally, this summer, The Sandbox partnered with The Museum of Contemporary Digital Art (MoCDA) and exhibited two of their works in The Sandbox metaverse. This exhibition featured artwork from top digital artists such as Lumps (Sam Drew), Elia Pelligrini, Giant Swan, Jenni Pasanen & Reuben Wu, Benedict, Adam Martinakis and Carolina Rodriguez Fuenmayor. These artists brought their creations to virtual reality life in The Sandbox.
