Square Enix jump on the blockchain gaming hype train!
Square Enix has pioneered Japanese gaming for the past 30 years, creating some of the most memorable games across a wide variety of consoles and gaming outlets.
Recent announcements have shown their recent commitment to expanding the immersive gaming experiences through the implementation of blockchain technologies in their future projects.
This new venture sees Square Enix Teams Up With Oasys Gaming Blockchain. They are a self-described eco-friendly blockchain designed for the gaming community specifically.
Their blockchain follows a “Proof of Stake” model, similar to Ethereum (once the bridge merge is complete), Dogecoin, Litecoin to name a few.
What can we expect from this new collaboration?
Gamers who are fans of Square Enix will be happy to hear that the game company is giving players more ways to engage with the community by implementing user contributions when developing upcoming titles.
Square Enix is the mastermind behind titles such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Grave robber and Just Reason.
While new titles and prospects would be ideal, many long-time fans of the company will be eager to see if the already established titles will find their way into web3’s realm, and the advancements it could bring for titles like these.
Square Enix and their view on blockchain
Although this announcement from both Square Enix and Oasys is fairly recent, talks between the two companies can be dated back to the start of 2022.
Many companies within the same industry have taken jumped into decentralized gaming or have plans to do so in the near future. With how lucrative this direction has proven lately, it’s no surprise that Square Enix seniors have been feeling positive vibes from taking their business in this direction.
Following this, in April 2022, Square Enix officially launched their blockchain Entertainment Business division which has proven to be a huge success so far!
They have even elaborated on the success Metaverse presented in 2021 in a blog post published on their official site, nodding towards the potential integration of NFTs also due to the added value digital goods received in this time frame.
