Britain’s longest-serving monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, died at Balmoral aged 96 on Thursday, after reigning for 70 years. According to several media reports, she took her last breath at her Scottish property, where she had spent much of the summer.
According to a 2020 Financial Times report, when the Queen received a journal, “The World’s First Peer-Reviewed, Scientific Blockchain Journal” from the British Blockchain Association, she felt delighted after reading the contents such as “Gender Change Information, Blockchain and GDPR” and ” Prefigurative Post-politics and Government Led Blockchain Projects”.
Her Majesty’s Private Secretary’s Office responded, saying that the Queen “is greatly appreciated [the] thoughtful gesture.” It remains unclear whether the Queen had any knowledge of Bitcoin or blockchain technology before receiving the record.

Following news of her passing, CZ shared its deepest condolences, saying the Queen was “one of the greatest examples of resilient leadership”.

The royal family’s interest in crypto
In the past, several media reports have stated that the royal family has a great interest in investing in cryptocurrencies. Speaking to a global media channel, Crown Prince Alois of Liechtenstein said that digital tokens such as Bitcoin were “something to look into in the future”, but admitted that the principality currently does not have the “internal expertise to do so”. In an interview with CNBC, Prince Alois expressed interest in potential applications of blockchain, the ledger technology that powers Bitcoin, to streamline national administrative procedures.

Following the passing of England’s long-reigning monarch, an Ethereum NFT initiative that generated dozens of Queen Elizabeth II commemorative artworks over the past two months is holding its final auction for the collection, decrypt.co reported.
In early July, QueenE began holding auctions for a single Ethereum NFT portrait created as a memorial to the late Queen. The project was reportedly developed by Web3 builder Fabio Sevá and the anonymous mladen.eth, and was intended to continuously release new procedurally generated works for the remainder of the Queen’s reign.
UK Prime Minister Truss speaks out on cryptocurrencies
The UK’s newly elected Prime Minister, Liz Truss, made positive remarks about cryptocurrencies back in 2018. She said, “we should welcome cryptocurrencies in a way that doesn’t limit their potential. Free up areas of free enterprise by removing regulations that limit prosperity.”
