Keanu Reeves joins the Foundation for NFT Art Diversity
Neo has taken crypto Red pill. Keanu Reeves and his partner Alexandra Grant have joined the efforts of a foundation focused on NFTs and art in the metaverseit Futureverse Foundation.
The star to The matrix wants you to know that he and Grant – a visual artist – are serious about NFTs. He really means it. Futureverse Foundation, according to The Hollywood Reporteris a new charity that will help artists create and sell their work in the meta-version as NFTseven if they have not told us what it means. The famous couple advises the ideal organization. The foundation is looking to increase access to the metaverse, especially for artists from backgrounds, and is dependent on the fact that NFTs will be a legitimate form of art that has actual value instead of just an abstract concept that can be easily done reproduced as counterfeits.
“I feel that the Futureverse Foundation is a proposal. If we have this opportunity to build a new economy [cultural] exchange, how do we do it? “Grant told The Hollywood Reporter.” It’s new to all of us to think that partnerships between the art world, Hollywood and technology come together in this truly beautiful way. “
Reeves did not immediately return our request for comment on his hopes for the foundation, but we will update this story if he does.
But wait, Keanu Reeves is definitely not interested in NFTs: at least he was not when he was. asked about them six months ago. In a interview with The Verge in December 2021 to promote The Matrix: Resurrections, Reeves was more than skeptical about the emergence of the non-fungible token. The actor was cautious when asked about his interest in cryptocurrency, and explained that a friend bought him some crypto, but he hadnot done anything about it. While the conversation was about NFTs and digital scarcity, Reeves remarked with a smile that NFTs are “easily reproduced”, just before he bowed and let go of a high mood. On the plus side, Reeves said he hoped Facebalso would keep the paws from the metaverse, so I guess it’s a win, even if it seems unlikely.
I have to point out the elephant in the room. The matrix was released in 1999 as a sharp critique of a dystopian world where people are literally harvested for their energy while connected to a run-of-the-mill suburb digital landscape. Now we are here in 2022, and have serious conversations about how we can earn in a digital world, conversations that now involve the star in the aforementioned criticism. It really is a moment in full circle.
