WAX represents over 42% of all GameFi users as Blockchain Gaming Momentum picks up again – CryptoMode
While the crypto markets remain largely bearish, global interest in GameFi remains relatively stable. The industry segment has a small user dip, but there are still some interesting mechanics to keep an eye on. Also, the total market value remains above $ 10 billion, although things can always change.
WAX dominates GameFi
When people talk about GameFi, they will often mention blockchain ecosystems as Ethereum or BNB chain. However, the real GameFi action does not happen on these networks. Ethereum is not even among the top nine and is classified as “other”, along with smaller networks. This is remarkable, although not so surprising given Ethereum’s technical limitations today.
WAX Is the preferred blockchain for GameFi activity these days. More specifically, the network represents 42.72% of all GameFi participants today, well ahead of HIVE (16.86%) and Solana (9.02%). It’s remarkable to see WAX dominate this area, even if the network does not generate any significant media headlines, even on a good day.
The popularity of WAX can be attributed to prominent blockchain game titles such as Alien Worlds, Splinterlands and Farmers World. These are the top three blockchain games by daily active users today, with Axie Infinity and Upland completing the top five. In addition, WAX is also home to MiningNetwork, Blockchain Brawlers, prospectors and many other game titles that record varying degrees of success.
The popular blockchain games today
It is equally important to keep track of what GameFi enthusiasts are looking for across data aggregators. It seems that Thetan Arena is the best search this week, ahead of Crypto Royale and Alien Worlds. Interestingly, the only other top-level project in the top seven is The Sandbox, with no sign of Axie Infinity, Splinterlands or Farmers World. This does not mean that interest in the WAX-based titles is declining, but it seems that other projects have stepped up marketing.
Another interesting facet is finding out which game-related tokens work well in the market. It’s exciting to see STEPN’s GMT and Enjoin Coin up there, along with native tokens from SMI Play, Deep Space, Exeedme, Decentral Games and Merit Circle DAO. A good collection of assets across different networks, which highlights the potential of different blockchain in GameFi and blockchain games.
