Development trends in fintech showcased by Goldpac at InnoEx 2023
A host of technologies are on display that demonstrate the wider applications of fintech.
HONG KONG, 12 April 2023 /PRNewswire/ — At InnoEx, Asia’s the premiere I&T (Information & Technology) event, Goldpac (stock code: 03315.HK) showcases a range of technologies and solutions charting development trends in fintech growth from stand 3D-E08. A wide variety of exhibits and demonstrations are available from amazing payment card printing and instant card issuing services to AI (Artificial Intelligence) content verification and even technologies that enable new discoveries of consumer insights through the secure sharing of encrypted 3rd party data.
Advances in kiosk technologies are enabling self-service card issuing kiosks such as the ACE301 to be demonstrated, to combine card issuing with dispensing functions and more. Issuing and dispensing require different mechanical processes and were previously only available separately. Now a single unit can handle a variety of services such as issuing credit cards and issuing medical cards. Kiosks increase efficiency, reduce queue times in the department and increase the quality and satisfaction of customer service.
Alongside the ACE301 kiosk, Goldpac is displaying the entry-level DCE160 and high-end all-in-one PIE001 desktop printers. The DCE160 offers everything needed for an efficient and hassle-free remote card issuing program. The PIE001 on the other hand, adds new levels of sophistication by forgoing the need for an external PC (this is built into the device), adds convenience with built-in eKYC (Know Your Customer) features, and comes with a large 10 ” touch screen. Designed as a one-unit portable card issuing station, the PIE001 redefines practical remote card issuing services.
For front-end applications such as account opening and consumer onboarding, the SST502 is an ideal choice. With a small footprint, the device is perfect as a data capture and application station. A camera (for facial recognition or video/photo recording), fingerprint scanner, card reader and electronic signature pad come as standard eKYC features. A high-resolution A4 document scanner makes document capture a breeze. The card reader can also be used for card-based services such as digital wallet request applications.
Extend kiosk technologies to new sectors
Progress in fintech development has also brought benefits in other sectors. Two on-screen self-service kiosks leverage the maturity of eKYC technologies for the benefit of government and the healthcare sector. The SCE303 driver’s license management kiosk can significantly help reduce or eliminate long queues. The SCE303 issues a new driver’s license upon presentation of a citizen ID document, supports regular paper-based licenses (prints and laminates), but can also support standard smart cards. The SCE303-F Prescription Pharmaceutical Dispensing Kiosk combines identity verification and proprietary medication dispensing technology to standardize, personalize and digitize the medication dispensing workflow. This allows residents to meet their prescription medical needs at their convenience.
Get in touch with artificial intelligence
Fintech is making progress in many different directions. However, Goldpac is focused on exploring how the combination of AI and fintech can have an impact around increasing the convenience and security of financial service delivery.
Increasing demand for customized consumer products will lead to tremendous growth in the generation of personalized content. Goldpac’s GoldAudit platform provides a very high-throughput AI-powered content verification system to ensure, for example, that images uploaded by cardholders such as their payment card’s face design comply with rule-based (copyright, obscene, prohibited, inappropriate, etc.) filtering and approval.
Automation is driving progress, and the AI Voice Assistant is an example of the possibilities ahead. A simple concept, the system calls the mobile number of each customer in a database. Voice synthesis is used to read a customer service script and natural language processing interprets the customer’s response. Such a system allows, for example, an issuing bank to eliminate lost or “return to sender” postal charges by first verifying the postal address using this system, thereby guaranteeing successful delivery.
In partnership with Marvel Digital Ai, Goldpac is also demonstrating the use of AI for ID photo processing for eKYC applications. The system takes an image of the user and uses computational algorithms to separate the user’s portrait from the background, then optimizes and formats the image according to relevant Image ID requirements. Goldpac developed its AI algorithms and integrated the algorithms into the Marvel Digital Ais edge computing AI chip. This collaboration enables an efficient solution for ID photo processing and other advanced data processing related applications.
For added excitement and fun, an image generation demo takes user-entered keywords and image style choices to feed an AI engine that creates fascinating and interesting images that can then be printed on a smart card to take away.
Future foundations
Combining convenience with enhanced security, Goldpac demonstrates its prototype Sonic PIN Detection software. Sound waves (at frequencies outside the audible spectrum) are generated by a smartphone speaker which are then picked up by the phone’s microphone. Highly complex and advanced algorithms distinguish and detect the amount of force exerted on the screen with each PIN press (and work with non-pressure sensitive touchscreens), creating a unique sonic PIN signature. This eliminates over-the-shoulder snooping and increases the effort and time required for brute force attacks even when the PIN is known.
Big data has been influential in creating today’s digital world, but a limit has been reached where vast amounts of data are now trapped in silos. Goldpac is trying to change this with its homomorphic encryption demo. It allows various commercial entities to mutually share, query and query encrypted data to discover new consumer insights. This advanced computational framework ensures that raw data is always exposed, but offers enormous potential for future business models.
Finally, a selection of beautifully designed card prints and finishing effects will be displayed on the card wall. These designs illustrate how underutilized the surface of the payment card is as a prominent branding element for the issuer. Along with these crafted designs, a selection of eco-friendly materials (coffee grinder, recycled PVC and sawdust), metal and digital cards (digital currency wallet and e-student card) will also be exhibited.
Goldpac believes that the work today is instrumental in enabling the digital transformation to a future where financial services will mainly be platform-based. A future where Goldpac continues its contribution to making transactions safer and more convenient for everyone.
