Pussy Riot’s NFT, titled “Virgin Mary, Please Become a Feminist,” features the Christian icon framed by “anatomical features of the female external genitalia.” The Russian government has used Pussy Riot’s NFT as evidence for criminal charges against the group for “hurting the religious feelings” of the people of Russia. Despite this legal challenge, however, Pussy Riot continues to use NFTs as a means of artistic expression and social activism.
