Paris Blockchain Week is upbeat despite banking concerns

We are getting ready for the main event of Paris Blockchain Week – the Summit – which begins on Wednesday 22 March. Just walking through the halls and visiting the stands on the Web3 day, it was easy to tell that those who showed up brought energy and enthusiasm.

Despite the fact that the global markets, last driven by the collapse (and the impending bailout) of Credit Suisseis a good time to learn about what the future of banking might look like.

While stress and worry is not how anyone wants to start a conference, especially one as important as PBWS, attendees at this event are looking forward to discussing the future of banking, crypto and more.

We are not going through another 2008

I don’t even want to go there. No one who lived through 2008 is concerned with repeating history, but to be realistic we must call this contagion what it is

I see the banking crisis as an infection that was cauterized years ago but never really went away. It was always there, always ready to erupt. And here we are. Since we are at an impasse in the markets, we have many questions to ask.

As we navigate through the week of one of blockchain and crypto’s most important global events, it’s a good time to ask ourselves – “what’s next?” Well, good thing we’re in the place to ask these questions.

Here’s what you shouldn’t miss at PBW

If you’re on location in the beautiful city of Paris, here are five “don’t miss” panels you can hear in person. We start early, so we hope you are a morning person!

  1. Latest Global Crypto Trends: From Bitcoin and CBDCs to DeFi and NFTs – What You Need to Know!
This event will begin at 9:00 AM CST, and Henri Arslanian, Nine Blocks Capital Management, will moderate the discussion. With all that’s going on, be sure to hear what’s happening with the crypto ecosystem.
  2. MiCA: How does the EU regulate crypto?
Europe is leading the way on regs, and it’s time to hear from the experts. This timely discussion will feature some fantastic speakers, including Gundars Ostrovskis from the European Commission.
  3. The best tools for your digital financial strategy
You can’t miss the panel at 11:20 CET, which will dive into a discussion on B2B and B2C regarding digital strategy. Although the incomparable Jordan French won’t be there this year (he’s busy organizing the Grit Daily House at CoinDesk Consensus April 26-27 in Austin), I’ll do the best job possible representing Grit Daily! We have a fantastic line-up for this event, incl Ilya Volkov, CEO of Youhodler and Andre Kazantsev, Global Head of Crypto Trading at Goldman Sachs.
  4. Banks leading the way in tokenization
If you’re taking the afternoon off, come back and be sure to listen to this panel, hosted by Claire Calmejane, Chief Innovation Office, Societe Generale. It’s guaranteed to be an interesting panel given the discussion from a bank about banks.
  5. Crypto Cowboys and Web3 Venture Capitalists: Riding the Wild West of Investing
From 17:40 CET, come and join the final official panel of the day, which will dive into the world of crypto investing. Yes, it’s still the wild west, but it might as well be a haven at this point given the banking situation. Come, visit and find out!

We’ll be back tomorrow with an update on any new information we’ve received.

Until then, #WAGMI.
