Quick take:

- The company wants to bring NFT calls to a proper web3 application.
- The app will allow traders to chat, trade and track NFT collections.
Metalink has launched a mobile app. The NFT platform’s online version allows users to talk, trade and track their NFTs without leaving the platform. The new app will allow traders to take the conversation out of leading social media platforms such as Discord and Telegram.
The app allows users to view real-time portfolios and floor prices of NFT collections in both crypto and fiat. There is also a section where creators can share updates about their NFT collections, which also allows the community to chat and exchange insights.
Commenting on the app launch on the company’s website, Metalink CEO Jake Udell called it “an app for the NFT community.”
“The NFT community is one of the best on the internet, but there hasn’t been a mobile app for us. The Metalink app aims to be the signal through the noise to keep you updated on the most important information about your NFTs and the community as a whole,” he wrote in a statement meant to reflect how messages will appear on the app.
Metalink also revealed that it raised $6 million in an undisclosed funding round, backed by some of the industry’s leading investors.
The company has partnerships with the likes of OpenSea, as well as Social Capital, Gemini, Dapper Labs, Guy Oseary and Gary Vaynerchuk, who have invested in the app.
Social Capital’s Chamath Palihapitiya commented: “Metalink marries chat, community, wallet and commerce into one experience. Our early adopters are almost 10% of volume on existing platforms and are our signal that Jake and his team may have found product/market fit.”
In the current setup, NFT traders participate in conversations on platforms such as Telegram, follow company updates on Discord, and track NFT floor prices through chain analytics data research and analytics platforms such as Dune Analytics and Cryptoslam.io. Metalink brings offers all these services in one platform.
“The vision is to eventually not need to communicate through Web2 messaging apps and separately buy and sell through multiple different marketplaces,” said Jake Udell.
Echoing Udell’s sentiments, Metalink’s chief product officer Adam Ceresko said Metalink’s goal is to make it as easy as possible for anyone “to quickly and securely chat with holders of a collection in their portfolio.”
“With Metalink, you simply connect to your wallet and start typing. Token holders only, one chat per collection. No Discord, Telegram or verification bots.”
The app is currently available in iOS format with the Android version scheduled to launch soon.
The app also uses popular social media tools like emojis to increase community engagement.
