NFT’s reputation suffered a lot in 2022. Surprisingly, today’s statistics show that the number of NFT games is still growing and that large venture capital firms are heavily funding the development and maintenance of NFT game projects. According to DappRadar’s latest BGA Games Report, venture capital investments in blockchain games and metaverse initiatives totaled $1.3 billion between July and September. Despite a 48% decline from the previous quarter, these numbers are almost twice as high as in 2021. But the games must change if they want to keep the confidence of the giant market players and the people hurt by the massive downturn.
What is an NFT and how does it work? Non-fungible tokens explained
Based on my research of the most popular and trusted games, I have compiled a list of five features that users look for when choosing an NFT game to play:
Stable income instead of quick profit
Users rarely believe in big daily rewards and quick profits in 2022. Most of them have seen how projects that promise such things disappear without a trace one day, so users prefer to avoid those that make big promises. Now is the time for games with solid concepts and strong teams, projects that give users fewer but more consistent incomes. Most importantly, the game’s native currency can be used outside of the game area, traded or used to pay for items in other ecosystems. The more integrations it has, the more reliable it seems.
While every game in the NFT market has some risk, Tamadoge is one whose team is working particularly hard to establish its legitimacy. The token for this game is listed on the OKX top exchange, and a “burning” system keeps it relatively stable. The presale of this token, which brought in $19 million, was one of the most successful this year. The game also plans to release a collection of 21,000 NFTs of varying rarity levels.
Increased level of user protection
While users’ need for in-game security may seem obvious as they have to connect to their wallet, it’s not an issue we should overlook. There is always room for improvement in user protection in the game. To understand the significance, consider the $600 million Axie Infinity hack. It is much better to talk about known hacks than “the most trusted” games because they can soon lose their status.

If a developer wants to create a long-lasting product, they should include several additional safeguards, such as additional security keys and a blockchain-based domain name system. They should also make games as decentralized as possible and hire white hat hackers. Of course, you can’t sacrifice usability for security, but rest assured that players will thank you one day for the extra layers of protection. There are no guarantees of complete security, but we can at least reduce the possibility of a hack.
User control over the game
You could be wrong if you think that no one is interested in creating their own NFTs and metaverses. People always value something they have invested time and effort in. That’s why you should consider including interactive elements in the game you develop.
In Vulcan Forged, users can create VulcanVerse quests and adventures, hunt NFTs, and battle other Vulcanites. PYR is the currency of the VulcanVerse, which a player can use for betting, settlement and gambling. In VulcanVerse plots can be bought, traded and built from scratch. Another such game is Town Star, a blockchain farm that players must set up within a week. After this period, the metaverse selects a winner and awards them GALA game tokens. The game is free, but in order to achieve good results and realize the opportunity to earn money, a user needs to spend money on some game NFTs. These tokens can then be sold or used in another game project.
Social interaction
Another unexpected trend among Web3 players is their desire for social interaction. Before, playing a game meant being alone and immersed in it. Players want to be part of the game’s co-creation process now.
Sandbox is a global metaverse on Ethereum, where players can create their own games, play other players’ games, or simply own the land. Land and other digital assets in the Sandbox are NFT tokens that users can sell, buy and move around using the SAND game token.
Mobile app available
Finally, remember ease of use. It is best if people can just download the app and follow clear and short instructions. Because users don’t always have a laptop with them, but always have a phone in their pocket, your game will get more traffic than those who haven’t developed a mobile version. Create a mobile app for your game to make it more accessible.
An example of a game available for phones is Decentraland, which users can connect to by registering as an owner on NFT. Purchased zones are the property of the user and do not belong to another company. Despite the market decline, the game remained popular, making this a notable utility.
