Millions Online has been a success since its launch in 2018. The first Millions Online was a single event that offered a prize pool of $20 million. Despite a slow start, it went on to surpass its record-breaking guarantee to become the largest online tournament in history at the time.
The $20 million guarantee was returned in 2019, and once again, a late flurry of buy-ins helped push the prize pool to $21 million. A break in 2020 was followed by a new structure in 2021. Another 27 tournaments were added along with a $5 million guaranteed Main Event.
Reduced warranty, increased variety
The main event guarantee has been reduced again this year, but the number of tournaments has increased. Giving away NFTs should also help generate some interest in the series, despite the crypto market being in a slump.
Crypto and NFT fever peaked in late 2021 and markets have been bearish for much of 2022. Despite that, NFT technology remains a prospect for the future.
Are NFTs as attractive as they were a few months ago? No, but their time may come again. In fact, with NFTs from the Bored Apes collection still worth millions, the market is far from dead.
Poker operators, including the WSOP, have embraced NFTs and now Partypoker has made them a selling point. This means that winners of Millions Online MTTs will not only deposit money, but also receive an asset that can increase in value over the coming years.
